Close customer support along the entire value-added process
Weissenhorn / Munich. Everything from a single source – from expert advice and planning through to pre-assembly and project support as well as quality control of the concreting process – this is exactly what the family-owned company PERI showcased at the bauma in Munich. From 8th – 14th April 2019, the formwork and scaffolding technology provider presented not only its extended system equipment programme but also a significantly enhanced range of services and software. Highlights for the construction companies target group include: the innovative SKYMAX Slab Formwork solution, the extended PERI UP Modular Scaffolding Kit, a simple planning app and sensors for quality monitoring of the concreting process.
PERI presents a new panel slab formwork
One highlight in the more than 4,200 square metre PERI exhibition hall was the new SKYMAX Slab Formwork. The solution for shuttering operations with site personnel in a safe position below not only convinces through its low weight but also by its high technical and economic flexibility. Thus, the SKYMAX presents itself as a type of construction kit with compatible components made of different materials. Panels, prop heads and other system components can be used in various combinations depending on requirements, e.g. slab thickness, or assembled to form slab tables. This offers new possibilities and ensures a high level of cost-effectiveness.
System components, such as column frames and adjustment beams, considerably reduce the time and effort required to close infill areas; the easy-to-handle aluminium or polymer panels also facilitate effortless work operations. The prop head or lowering head can also be used in edge areas and when changing direction; in addition, the proven principle of early striking reduces the amount of on-site material requirements. Not only does assembly from the level below make the SKYMAX a future-proof investment. Thanks to the use of RFID technology, the aluminium panels are well prepared for the future. By means of RFID tags, it will be possible in future to retrieve specific component solutions as well as being able to support logistical processes via a corresponding app.
New components for proven systems
True to the motto “Best Customer Service”, PERI is constantly developing system enhancements. For the SKYDECK Slab Formwork, for example, the new SKY Anchor provides a mobile anchoring point for PPE (personal protective equipment against falling). The SKY Anchor is fixed to the drophead and allows safe shuttering from above.
The MAXIMO Wall Formwork with the one-sided tie technology is now optionally available as completely galvanised and powder-coated. As a result, it has even better protection against external influences, for example, when used in constant adverse weather conditions. True to the maxim “well thought-out one-sided anchoring operations”, new system components have also been created: the new Brace Connector for the formlining side allows support to be provided inside building pits, a modified Panel Connection Clamp facilitates unrestricted operation of the setting formwork also in the narrowest of working spaces. In addition, PERI is presenting a Wall Formwork Bracket that can be used with the MAXIMO as well as TRIO Panel Formwork. It enables the rapid placement of formwork elements at slab edges and has a particularly long service life thanks to its galvanized surface. Thanks to the adaptable component, slab edges of up to 30 cm can also be shuttered through the assembly of the Guardrail Post MXK. Moreover, with the MX external climbing solution, a cost-effective system solution for opening and retracting the MAXIMO is now available for the range of climbing solutions.
For the DUO Universal Formwork, PERI also presented numerous new developments that broaden the range of applications. For example, the very light Stripping Bar which facilitates striking both horizontally and vertically as well as on the front side of the concrete surface. With the DUO Repair Kit, PERI now also offers the possibility of repairing holes and scratches in the formwork quickly and cost-effectively directly on the construction site. The newly introduced and easy-to-install Girder Rack not only reduces costs but also reduces the number of props required when using the DUO solution when forming slabs.
Innovative components complement PERI´s extensive product range
In addition, PERI has also expanded its prop portfolio. The galvanised PEP Alpha 2 Slab Prop covers a wide range of the standard range of applications for tubular steel props in residential and lighter commercial construction. With a reduced weight, the tubular steel columns provide a load-bearing capacity above the European standard and increase safety levels on the construction site by means of an effective hand safety clearance and an anti-dropout safeguard.
With an innovative box-out formwork, PERI also presented a new and efficient option at the bauma for realising openings for doors and windows. The reusable solution can be mounted quickly and without special tools, and can accommodate different wall thicknesses. Due to the special design of the angle, formwork elements can be easily and effortlessly removed again after concreting. Recesses in walls, floors or slabs are thus realised with less labour costs and without the use of additional formworking timber.
Compatible scaffolding solutions with new components
In the area of scaffolding, PERI relies on ensuring compatibility, safety and efficiency. With PERI UP, a modular scaffolding kit has been available since the introduction of the PERI UP Easy facade variant which is suitable for all applications. This not only reduces the number of components required but also investment costs, storage requirements and labour costs – also regarding the 2nd generation of the PERI UP Flex modular scaffolding which was presented at the bauma. With up to 20 % weight savings of the core components with the same load-bearing capacity, PERI has further developed the modular scaffolding solution in accordance with customer requirements. Naturally, all components of the 2nd generation are compatible with those of the 1st generation and, thanks to the uniform 25 cm or 12.5 cm grid dimensions, they can also be combined with PERI VARIOKIT steel components.
The PERI UP Easy facade scaffolding, the innovation presented at the last bauma, also features new system components. New additions here are, for example, aluminium decks with a closed and non-slip surface as well as a low stacking height of only 51 mm and components made of fibre-reinforced plastic. A self-closing hatch which opens from the side now provides a convenient exit possibility through a tread profile, and the new side protection in advance system ensures safe and direct guardrail installation without coupling.
Services, apps and software simplify daily operations on the jobsite
The range of formwork and scaffolding has been complemented by a comprehensive selection of services, software and apps such as the innovative planning solution PERI QuickSolve. In January 2019, PERI presented the first app from the QuickSolve programme at the BAU trade fair: the DUO Planner. With the app, users can plan, cycle and shutter simple floor plans. The very positive feedback prompted the company to develop similar solutions for other formwork systems in the future as well as create new functions for the DUO Planner.
For more complex planning, PERI is increasingly making its component models available in the form of BIM libraries for other proven CAD applications, for example, Tekla or Autodesk. For scaffold construction, PERI is breaking new ground together with leading software developer Cadenas: in a new BIM CAD component library, architects, planners, work schedulers and civil engineers can now download more than 200 scaffolding components in more than 150 CAD formats at no charge and integrate the CAD data directly into existing designs.
Keeping an eye on the entire value-added processes of customers
A totally new section of the Weissenhorn-based company also celebrated its premiere: PERI took a detailed look at the concreting process and developed a new, comprehensive quality assurance methodology under the name of PERI InSite Construction. Using a series of sensors, all process phases and their results can be documented in bundles. Among other things, the sensors quickly and precisely check the consistency and temperature of the concrete which saves time and money on the construction site. Additional monitoring of the concrete pressure and the distribution of the concrete in the formwork increase safety levels and ensure optimum results.
